MARKETING INTERN ASSIGNMENT: This internship will support the marketing team to deliver on the needs of the brand. This position will work collaboratively across the marketing department to provide support in social media, advertising, digital marketing, PR and general administration across our communication initiatives.


1. Product Marketing -- Tire Ratings

* Objectives

* Recommend options for communicating product attribute ratings to customers (B2B) based on a comprehensive understanding of current Goodyear, relevant tire competitor and alternate industry approaches.

* Tasks

* Compile tire industry attribute ratings.

* Indicate the use, emphasis/implied importance of attribute ratings, relation to consumer ratings, relation to technologies/innovations, etc.

* How B2B ratings differ from B2C

* Collect a similar historical view to better understand trends in product attribute ratings.

2. Product Marketing -- B2B Claims

* Objectives

* Understand how competitors communicate & differentiate products to customers (retailers & wholesalers).

* Tasks

* Build on the 2017 consumer facing claims research to include customer facing (sell in) product claims.

* Research B2B claims, product training and POS materials & information provided 3. Product Marketing-Innovations

* Objectives

* Analyze competitive innovations & technologies and how they are used to differentiate products from their own portfolio as well as competitive offerings.

* Tasks

* Finding/buying/displaying/demoing tire

* Colored tires, Sensor tires, Tire stickers, Extended mobility tires, Noise mitigation, Tire shine products

* Indicate how technologies/innovation are marketed on the tire or in training or POS

* Classify innovations & technologies by consumer benefit groups (safety, longevity, agility, durability, etc.) 4. Product Marketing- Competitor Cadence

* Objectives

* Recommend appropriate product introduction cadence by analyzing the competitive market and making recommendations to Product Marketing managers

* Tasks

* Build upon the 2017 database of competitor cadences to continue further understanding of the competitive market

By the end of the internship you will:

* Have a solid understanding of the tire industry and the competitive landscape that Goodyear competes within

* Lead assessment of competitive activity in the marketplace to guide strategic planning

* Learn to bring to life Goodyear's brand voice & positioning, acting as a consumer ambassador for the brand

* Help create on-brand content within the core initiatives to help Goodyear reach identified target consumers

* Develop and lead analysis of monthly business scorecard for the Marketing team; partner with stakeholders on critical KPIs; present scorecard and insights/recommendations to marketing team

* Know how to use marketing research to assess consumer needs

* Confidently present recommendations in team settings

Required Education and Experience

* Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or related business field

* Minimum of Junior undergraduate standing

* Successful candidates should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA

Desired Skills and Abilities

* Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task and work independently on multiple projects while meeting deadlines

* Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

* Excellent communication and presentation skills

* Strong analytical skills

* Ability to thrive in a team environment
