**PURPOSE OF POSITION:** To greet patients, verify demographic and insurance information, collect copays, answer phone, schedule appointments and print fee tickets and SOF forms.
1. Normally works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a scheduled lunch
every day.
2. May require paid overtime before and/or after normal working hours.
3. Works in well-lighted and well-ventilated office.
4. Expected to adhere to general office policy.
5. Will not be exposed to blood and body fluids.
6. Will spend majority of day in front of computer terminal entering data, using telephone, faxes, copiers, and printers.
7. Subject to frequent interruption.
1. Must be a high school graduate.
2. Must have general computer knowledge.
3. Must have basic typing skills.
4. Must have good health as demonstrated by infrequent absenteeism.
5. Must have ability to communicate well with a variety of clients in mature, courteous, and professional manner.
6. Must be able to function independently and accurately with frequent interruptions.
1. Greets patients in a pleasant professional manner.
2. Verifies demographic, referring physician and insurance information over the telephone and/or in person.
3. Correctly identifies insurances that need precertification or authorization and ensure that it is obtained.
4. Must collect copays from patients. (See policy on money handling.)
5. Must verify correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening.
6. Answers phone in professional manner.
7. Schedules patients accordingly and collect patient information accurately.
8. Must notify appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. (Put on physician schedule if appropriate).
9. Must run fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms.
10. Make sure appropriate forms are completed.
11. Keep an eye on waiting room for supplies and neatness.
12. Make follow up appointments/ schedule necessary tests
13. May need to post charges and co-pays
14. May be asked to make patient appointment reminders
15. Other duties as assigned by Practice Coordinator or Manager
